Digital Transfer

Digital transfer of promotional items

Digital transfer is a popular branding method for promotional items when you need full-color artwork, smooth gradients and high detail with photo-like quality. It is especially suitable for textile and fashion products and accessories where vivid color rendering matters. You can find a full overview of methods on our printing technologies page.

What is digital transfer?

The process starts by printing the design in CMYK onto transfer media. A white layer and adhesive are then added to ensure reliable adhesion on the selected product. In the final step, the transfer is applied using heat and pressure. This creates a precise and visually strong print with clean detail reproduction.

Digital transfer is useful where spot-color technologies can be limiting for gradients, fine details or photo-based graphics. Depending on the product, we can work with vector files as well as high-quality raster artwork with transparent background.

We print only on promotional items supplied by us. Before production, we prepare an artwork proof for approval so the placement, size and final print style are clearly confirmed.

When digital transfer is a good fit

We recommend it mainly for colorful artwork with gradients and fine details that should stand out clearly on the product. Typical use includes branded textiles, bags and backpacks, caps, umbrellas and other promotional accessories.

  • A good choice for small-to-medium runs with higher visual requirements.
  • Handles complex color designs better than simple one-color spot methods.
  • For simple logos in spot colors, screen printing or pad printing may be more economical.

Advantages and limitations of digital transfer

Advantages

  • Full-color printing (CMYK).
  • Transfer can be applied to various shapes and materials.
  • Suitable for small production runs.
  • Artwork can be supplied as raster image data.
  • A good option for designs with gradients and finer visual details.
  • The white underlayer can improve contrast on darker product surfaces.

Limitations

  • The surface is covered with a film layer, which may feel slightly rubberized rather than like direct printing.
  • Fine print grain may be visible in some motifs.
  • The final visual feel can vary by material, surface texture and artwork size.
  • For some applications, it is worth comparing alternative print technologies.
